INTERCONNECTED GRIDS
Energy storage for a secure power supply.

Flexibility upgrade
Many existing power plants cannot keep up with the effects of the energy transition. They lack the flexibility needed to create sustainable revenues in today’s energy markets.
The adaptive flywheel upgrades these plants, making them more flexible. Such an upgraded hybrid systems can react to grid disturbances within fractions of a second. The modernized plants can provide frequency containment reserve, which increases revenues.

Reduction of battery cycles – Hybrid energy storage systems
Batteries experience cyclic aging, which reduces their lifetime. In a hybrid storage system, the battery is coupled with the adaptive flywheel. The flywheel provides most of the dynamic loads which reduces the cycle count of the battery dramatically.
In case of frequency containment reserve the battery’s lifetime is increased by up to 20%. Skillful pooling with additional assets further increases the overall performance and revenues.
